Chad Cameron’s earliest work was rendered in Crayola
with a crude overhand technique on his bedroom walls.
This expressionist body of work came to include drawings
on other clean surfaces, his little brother, and a fair
attempt at the family cat. This didn’t go over well
with the critics. Eventually, the critics sent him away
to college. After graduating with a degree in Communication
Arts and Design from Virginia Commonwealth University,
Chad produced illustrations in wide variety of commercial
markets, from corporate clients like IBM Multimedia,
Coca-Cola and Yahoo!, to editorial illustrations for
magazines such as Better Homes and Gardens.
In 1999, illustrations for Chad’s first children’s book,
Witchy’s Turned Around House, won Gold
at the Society of Illustrators San Francisco competition.
The move to children’s illustration seemed a perfect
fit. Chad's other books include A Day With No
Crayons, Pink Magic, and George
Hogglesberry, Grade School Alien.
In 2002, work from George Hogglesberry
was selected to appear in the annual “The Original Art”
exhibition at the Society of Illustrators in New York.
Outside of the children’s publishing world, Chad has
been lucky to work on a wide variety of projects from
gourmet food packaging to novelty playing cards to creating
flying pigs for the side of commercial jet!
