My education has included several schools and two degrees. After having worked several years for various companies as a graphic artist, designer, product illustrator, and technical illustrator, I became an independent contract illustrator in 1980. By nature, I am a traditional realist. My primary mediums as an illustrator have been watercolor and mixed media. I have drawn and painted everything from blow-apart diagrams of satellites to children's books, cookbooks to storyboards for TV commercials, greeting cards to books on first aid, and everything in-between, including fashion illustration, landscapes, still-life, seascapes, and pet portraits. Although my clients have included the advertising, institutional, corporate, government, storyboard, book, scientific and technical, and novelty markets, the area of illustration that is most fulfilling to me is the children's market. My professional affiliations include the San Francisco Society of Illustrators, the California Watercolor Association, the North West Air Force Artists, and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. I have been an instructor in the Illustration Department at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco since 1992.
