I'm an artist and writer who has picked up a few nifty
skills along the way: playing and coaching soccer, dancing
hula, parenting two kids and cooking up a terrific tofu
lasagna. To say these experiences serve as fodder for
ideas is an understatement. From my glorious recollections
of Iceland's skies to my childhood obsession with greek
myths and comic books, everything finds a way into my
work.

The Little Nut Tree

I'll often combine different media to achieve a desired effect
or atmosphere. I enjoy using acrylic, pastel, gouache, prismacolor
pencils, and whatever else suits my muse. The image above,
The Little Nut Tree, was painted in acrylic.
I received a degree in Art from the University of Hawaii
and I now live/work in the SF bay area. My upcoming picture
book shares my love of Hawaiian culture and art. It retells
a folk-tale about Nounou mountain, "The Sleeping Giant of
Kaua'i." It's due out in fall 2006 (BeachHouse Publishing)
