Eve Aldridge created this watercolor, collage and
pencil illustration: "Eat Right or Else!" for Sing
My Song (Tricycle Press) where almost every element
is made of food or anti-food, and if you look really
hard, you just might find Popeye.
While attending the California College of Arts, Eve's
visual and creative passions led her to opposing fields,
fine art and commercial art; and a worthy dilemma -
what to choose, what to give up? Determined to combine
the best of both, she earned her BFA in Illustration
and found her niche in children's books, where beautiful
art coexists with magic, humor and whimsy - a perfect
fit for a quirky book lover.
Her earlier picture books, Hurry Granny Annie
and Sarah's Story (both Tricycle Press) combine
watercolor and pencil. Her recent collage work and fascination
with texture via digital imagery is fueling her current
project - a collection of illustrated poetry. When not
illustrating, she may be reading or writing kid's books,
running hill trails, glaring at crossword puzzles, or
erasing holes into her Sudoku puzzle. She lives in Oakland,
California with her husband and brat dog.
