“BECAUSE SO MUCH OF THIS
WORLD is troubled, confused, and frightened, I create
fun, simple pictures and stories to help people see
clearly, think about things in new ways, and talk together.”
Like so many of us, the first drawings Kevin ever
scratched out were done with a box of Crayons. He sat
in his mom’s and dad's laps and drew childish pictures
of the family dog, flowers, birds, and volcanos as the
family told stories.
To Kevin, the artist's role in life has always seemed
to be like that of the mad scientist. An artist is constantly
experimenting, figuring out new ways to touch people
by putting together colors, shapes, feelings, and sometimes
even fire. If you could see into Kevin’s personal 'lab,'
over the years, you'd see everything from watercolors
to rock bands, crayons to poetry.
Like a number of picture book authors, Kevin is a
full-time illustrator and business writer. Using his
journalism background and corporate communications experience
as a foundation, Kevin has begun his adventure in publishing
and children’s literature.Some highlights are:
- Illustrating social change and business books:
Virtuoso Teams, Boynton, Fischer, Prentice
Hall, 2005
The World Café, Brown, Isaacs, et. al.,
Berrett Koehler, 2005
- Volunteering with the nonprofit publisher Room to
Read (www.roomtoread.org)
- Writing and publishing at the books-on-demand site
Lulu.com
- Founding partner of the corporate communications
company Visual Ink, LLC (www.visualink.biz)
