Readers of historical fiction don't want to be on the outside,
looking in.
They want the backstage tour, the feeling that they are *there* as the
events of history unfold around them.

Ellen Klages, who won the Scott O'Dell Award for historical fiction
(for The Green Glass Sea), and the California Book Award for YA
(for the sequel, White Sands, Red Menace) will talk about research,
writing, and how to use details to make the past come alive. |

Directions to Redwood High School:
From 101 Northbound
Drive on US 101 heading north. Bear right
onto the PARADISE DRIVE off-ramp; turn left onto PARADISE. Continue on
PARADISE DRIVE heading west for 0.2 miles. Continue on TAMALPAIS DRIVE
heading west for 0.2 miles. Turn right onto MADERA BOULEVARD and head
north for 0.5 miles. Continue on TAMAL VISTA BOULEVARD heading northwest
for 0.5 miles. Turn left and then turn left again onto LUCKY DRIVE heading
southwest for 0.2 miles. Turn right onto DOHERTY DRIVE heading northwest
to 395 Doherty Drive.
From 101 Southbound
Drive on US 101 heading south. Bear right
onto the LUCKY DRIVE off-ramp; go straight through the intersection heading
west. Bear right and then turn left onto LUCKY DRIVE heading southwest
for 0.2 miles. Turn right onto DOHERTY DRIVE heading northwest to 395
Doherty Drive
