butterflyDear Fellow Writers and Illustrators

Thank you to the wonderful illustrators who submitted logos to the logo contest. We'll be announcing the logo selected in May. Every submission showed tremendous spirit of the talent around the Bay.

As spring opens, it always brings new energy, fresh  ideas and blooming beginnings (and budding endings!) There are lots of new regional programs to give your efforts wings (sorry, but couldn't resist.). So enjoy and let your inner writer and illustrator drive your journey.

And, as every published writer and illustrator has told us, perseverance pays off!

Jennifer Laughran AgentEast Bay Meeting - Wed., April 16th , 6:45 - 9 PM, "YA Trends - What's Hot, What's Not"  Jennifer Laughran, associate agent, Andrea Brown Literary Agency

Jennifer Laughran, our guest speaker, is new to the Andrea Brown Literary Agency, but not to the world of children's books. She shares her plans for the meeting:  "I will talk about trends in YA books, what's selling and what trends are over. And then, more specifically, how I work and what I am looking for in particular. Mostly though, I am interested in people's questions. I would love it if I could spend most of the time fielding questions. So come prepared!"

Jennifer's  been a children's bookseller for more than a decade, and is the founder of the extremely popular YA event series "Not Your Mother's Book Club". Her knowledge of the market and extensive experience working with publishers will be a definite asset for her clients. Visit Agents Bio's for more about her.
